Job Summary
A Cargo Agent at dnata is responsible for handling cargo-related activities, including documentation, customer service, acceptance, delivery, breakdown, build-up, equipment operation, and transportation. The role ensures smooth handling of export and import cargo in compliance with international and airline-specific standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Cargo Handling and Operations
Perform day-to-day operations related to cargo acceptance, delivery, and documentation.
Ensure proper handling of import and export shipments by following International Air Transport Association (IATA) and airline-specific guidelines.
Handle, load, and unload cargo, couriers, and mail from Unit Load Devices (ULDs), aircraft, and trucks.
Operate cargo handling equipment such as tow trucks, forklifts, and conveyor belts. - Compliance with Regulations and Policies
Follow customer service policies, airline-specific procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards to create a safe workplace.
Coordinate with government authorities (Customs, Municipality, Health, and Police) to facilitate cargo clearance. - Safety and Quality Control
Conduct cargo inspections and validation against documentation to ensure accuracy.
Adhere to safety protocols when handling special cargo like dangerous goods, live animals, and valuable shipments.
Identify and report safety concerns to supervisors for quick resolution. - Team Coordination and Customer Service
Assist and guide Loaders and Equipment Operators in cargo build-up, breakdown, and delivery.
Communicate effectively with airlines, freight forwarders, and customers to ensure efficient cargo movement.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing queries and resolving cargo-related issues efficiently. - Data Management and Documentation
Enter cargo details into automated systems to maintain accurate records.
Ensure proper cargo documentation for customs clearance and airline compliance.
Maintain detailed reports on cargo acceptance, storage, and delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
To be eligible for a Cargo Agent position at dnata, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Educational Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (12 years of schooling)
A Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field is an advantage.
Work Experience
2-4 years of experience in cargo handling, logistics, or aviation operations.
Prior experience in an air cargo warehouse or ground handling company is preferred.
